LassiterWare Cares packs over 25K meals in the fight against hunger – 10K heading to SC for flood victims

Leesburg, FL, October 12, 2015 –  At Mission Inn and Resort Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, LassiterWare’s nonprofit, LassiterWare Cares, partnered with Deliver The Difference in packaging 25,272 meals in the effort to fight hunger locally, nationally, and internationally. Traditionally, this day has been an annual event for LassiterWare as their company meeting known as “Day of Discovery.” For the past few years this day has been solely dedicated in allowing employees the chance to learn and grow throughout each department. This year was a different story. “LassiterWare Cares was started by the employees of LassiterWare with the intent to give back and we have been fortunate enough to be able to do so. That’s what this is all about,” said Doug Childers, Jr., LassiterWare’s C.E.O. & President.
The afternoon was scheduled for all 90 employees to be split into six assembly lines of tables. With the support of LassiterWare Cares, and guidance from Deliver the Difference, over 25K meals were packaged and set to be sent all over Florida and to South Carolina. It was multiple parties that led to making this day such a success in the fight against hunger. Currently, over 8OO million people in the world suffer daily from hunger and starvation – approximately 33% of the world’s population. Deliver the Difference is a local organization, based in Tavares, Florida; where their mission focuses on empowering people to break the cycle of poverty through life skills and nutrition. “We may have a great program, but without community partners like LassiterWare, we can’t do what we do. They are the people that make a difference. Looking forward to future endeavors,” said Bob Bostic, Deliver the Difference Founder.
Meals are headed to several different regions in Florida that LassiterWare offices serve including Orlando, Jacksonville, Tampa, Lake County, Marion County, and Sumter County. Additionally, meals are being sent to South Carolina in the effort to help the recent flood victims in desperate need. The meal distributions are as follows:

  • 5,000 sent to HungerFight.org in Jacksonville, FL
  • 5,000 sent to MealsOfHope.org in Tampa, FL
  • 5,000 sent to organizations throughout Lake, Sumter, and Marion Counties in Florida
  • 10,000 sent to the South Carolina Salvation Army

LassiterWare, along with LassiterWare Cares, are dedicated to providing support to the communities and organizations throughout the regions they serve. Innovative insurance is not the only way LassiterWare is able to support individuals and businesses. For this 102 year old company, the passion and goals stretch much further in working towards making a positive impact and difference in the world.
